Fall Happenings at Waupoos Farm

Fall Happenings at Waupoos Farm

In September and October, we welcomed several rental groups. These groups (church retreats, school leadership camps, etc.) help financially support Waupoos’ primary mission for low-income families.

We held our General Meeting at the end of September – reviewing the past year and looking towards the future!

Thanksgiving was another cottager vacation, complete with an open house and traditional turkey dinner. This was enjoyed by all! After dinner, some stayed and chatted in the lodge, some enjoyed a campfire outside, and some got the chance to look at Saturn and the moon through a telescope!

Our Fall Clean Up Day marked yet another transition as we leave summer 2024 behind and make our way towards winter and the memories that it will hold! Thank you to the volunteers who came to help! We got so much accomplished!

Reflecting on this past half year, it is evident that Waupoos Family Farm provides a unique and important service that is needed today. Financial struggle is a real and limiting factor for so many in our city. Unrest in our world has caused many to flee to Canada for the chance to start over. Today’s technology does much good, but it can also steal away childhood. So many struggle with mental health and other factors that destabilize and pose extra challenges for the already demanding task of raising children.

This is who Waupoos is for. Life is stressful and challenging; the opportunity to get away from it all for a while should not only be available to those who can afford it. Time away, time outdoors, and time enjoying recreation builds up families and is especially important for children.

  • Waupoos is for the family who has not had a vacation in the last 10 years.
  • For the children who struggle to fit in and don’t have a safe place to play at home.
  • For single-parent families who are stretched thin.
  • For many who long for community and connection but are limited by circumstance.
  • For those establishing themselves in a new country with a new language.
  • For many who are experiencing dark and challenging times, Waupoos is a window of hope where God’s light shines through.

For those who serve Waupoos today and who have served in the past, thank you! It is a team effort! Thank you for your continued support!
