As we reflect on the Christmas and New Year season, we want to share what your generosity made possible — and to thank you for being part of these meaningful moments. Over the holidays, we were able to welcome 10 new Ottawa families into our program and offer two fully supported vacations during a time of year that can be especially challenging for families facing financial hardship.
One vacation took place over Christmas, and a second, separate vacation welcomed different families over New Year’s, allowing even more families to experience rest, connection, and joy at this special time of year. For many, this was their first real vacation.
Parents had space to slow down and feel supported, while children were free to play, explore, and experience the magic of the season with activities like cookie decorating, sledding, and campfires. The feedback we received from families speaks powerfully to the impact of these experiences:
“It was an absolute joy to be here. We enjoyed the various activities but the Christmas Brunch was our favourite. Thanks for making Christmas special and for the surprise gifts. My girls were overjoyed to see there were gifts for Mommy and they each picked out a gift to give me.”

Perhaps most encouraging of all, every family expressed a strong desire to return for our summer program—a clear reminder that these vacations are not just a brief respite, but something families deeply value and benefit from.
As we move into the new year, we are looking ahead to what it will take to continue — and grow — Waupoos’ work. Donations help us keep our programs running, maintain our grounds and facilities, and expand the number of families we can support each year.
